Healing Healthcare – A plan for commonsense healthcare reform
Our wonderful Gift of Love recipient, Undue Medical Debt, shines a spotlight on one of many problems plaguing our healthcare system in the US. Indeed, we are the only wealthy country in the world that accepts medical debt and over 500,000 resulting personal bankruptcies per year, as "normal".
Well, it doesn’t have to be this way! In fact, Minnesota is one of 23 states currently working on plans for a publicly funded, universal healthcare system.
Please join us September 14 at 11 am for an event featuring state Senator John Marty as he describes how we can realize affordable healthcare for every Minnesotan. The blueprint for accomplishing it is the Minnesota Health Plan (MHP), authored by the senator.
Senator Marty will answer your questions about how the plan could be implemented, and what it could mean for Minnesota patients, employers, healthcare providers, insurers, and taxpayers. He will also describe recently introduced legislation that is an important step toward enactment of the MHP.
We all understand that healthcare is a human right and should be accessible to everyone, no matter where we live, financial circumstances, the color of our skin, or gender identity. That is health justice! If we all work together, we can realize that vision within the next few years.
Health Care for All Minnesota is sponsoring this event.
This event will be held at Advent Lutheran Church in the Good Shepherd Room at 11 am on September 14.
