Let’s face it, building community in the Twin Cities can be a little daunting. Advent’s Young Adult Ministry is a welcoming group of 20–30 somethings seeking authentic friendships, rewarding work, and nurturing communities. We support each other’s growth at happy hours, retreats, and outreach service opportunities. We engage in conversations about vocation, race, justice, love, sexuality, God, housing, care of creation, and much more. We live into our roles as community leaders, balancing action, rest, and fun.  For more information or to join this group, please contact Pastor Peter at

In response to safe COVID-19 practices, Young Adult gatherings will take place on Zoom until we are confident in moving to a next stage of social connection.

Adult Forums

Following Sunday worship, pastors and lay leaders offer extended education, church information, or sermon-related book study series. Forum topics will be announced in advance and some registration may be required. At this time, we are offering these forums in person and online, via Zoom, and we encourage all those interested to participate.

Wednesday Bible Study

Each Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m., the pastors will dive deep into the text they will be preaching on for the coming Sunday.  Bible Study is currently being done via Zoom.  Contact the church office for the link.

Women’s Bible Study

This group is a weekly lay-led Bible study meeting Thursday mornings via Zoom. Knowledge of the Bible is not a prerequisite so come, and we will enjoy learning and sharing God's word together.  If you have any questions, please contact the church office.

Much of our Fellowship Ministry is on pause while we remain socially distant.  When it is safe to gather again, we look forward to seeing our Book Club, Dining Groups, Adult Social Ministry gatherings, and more!

Prayer Chain
Our team is available for confidential prayer requests.

Mask Team
This team is currently creating and donating masks to local COVID_19 efforts. Each volunteer completes the work in their home and then donates the pieces to Advent, from where they are sent to areas in need.  Previous submissions were given to Lutheran World Relief. Current mask submissions are being shared with Central Lutheran, Minneapolis and its day program for people experiencing homelessness.

Prayer Shawls
Volunteers lovingly knit shawls and offer prayers privately for those in need of an extra touch of caring. Completed shawls are collected at Advent for eventual distribution.

Home Visitors
We continue to visit, encourage, and support each other during the pandemic through phone calls and cards. If you would like more information on being a Home Visitor or having a Home Visit, please call the church office.

Quilting Group
This lay-led group is responsible for providing approximately 100 quilts annually to Lutheran World Relief. This ministry is currently on pause, due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Alcoholics Anonymous
Advent provides a meeting space for Elm Creek AA. This closed group meets on the Maple Grove campus on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. Please call the main office for more information.
