CYFM Associate Position (part-time)

Advent Lutheran is looking to hire a part-time CYFM Associate for 10-12 hours/week. Advent is an inclusive, welcoming congregation that values worship, outreach, and people of all ages – particularly youth and children. Summer responsibilities include planning monthly events for youth and building relationships with youth and families. School year responsibilities will include leading Wednesday evening confirmation classes as well.

CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND FAMILY MINISTRY ASSOCIATE POSITION DESCRIPTION

Status: Part-time, non-exempt

Reports to: Director of Faith Formation

Primary Function: To assist in coordination, planning, and administration of education and ministry for children, youth, and their families, in partnership with Director of Faith Formation, pastors, and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Director of Faith Formation to plan and lead Pre-Confirmation and Confirmation classes and service projects.
  • Coordinate and facilitate fellowship activities and special events for children and youth.
  • Build relationships with children, youth, and their families.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating youth fundraisers.
  • Help to promote, plan, and participate in annual events such as Rally/Welcome Sunday, Vacation Bible School, Summer Camp, and other summer trips (e.g., ELCA Gathering, mission, etc.)
  • Being available at church on Wednesday evenings, Sunday mornings, and during other activities, as needed.
  • Perform other duties in Children, Youth, and Family Ministry, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A mature faith and commitment to a Lutheran theology of grace and forgiveness.
  • Passion for student engagement in Children and Youth Ministry programs and faith development opportunities.
  • Ability to maintain proper and safe boundaries with children and youth in a variety of situations and settings.
  • Ability to efficiently use Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn and work with the church database.
  • Available to work Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, with flexibility in additional hours and scheduling, as needed.
  • Successful completion of criminal background check and motor vehicle record check as performed by Advent Lutheran Church.
  • Previous experience with youth and/or children preferred.

Office Administrator

Reports to: Senior Pastor, Elizabeth Felt
Directly Supervises: Volunteers helping with office work
Status: Part Time, 24 hours per week
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Pay: Competitive
Required Background: High School Diploma
Preferred Background: Post-secondary education; experience in office administration or related

Job Summary: The Office Administrator provides smooth day to day operations of the office.

Hours:

Hours: Tuesday – Thursday 8 AM – 4:30 PM in the office with 30 minute unpaid lunch break; pre-approval required to work remotely

Vacation is detailed in The Advent Lutheran Church Employee Handbook.

Essential Functions:

  • Create and prepare bulletins for worship and other occasional services
  • Work with digital contract company on weekly newsletter, social media, website, etc.
  • Answer and direct phone calls, emails, and in person visits in a timely and professional manner
  • Participate in team staff meetings
  • Collaborate with office volunteers
  • Order and maintain office supplies, equipment, zoom licenses, copyrights, licenses, etc.
  • Work and negotiate with various vendors
  • Maintain church membership records/database
  • Facilitates communications and administration within the church community and externally
  • Maintains and oversees Advent’s calendar
  • Coordinate logistics and reservations for facility use across multiple organizations
  • Update outdoor digital sign regularly

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Able to set up tables and chairs for meetings
