Disaster Relief Volunteers

Advent Lutheran Church has a group of dedicated volunteers who are willing to go to unknown places to help people and their communities following a disaster. The group has been to New Orleans 3 times to help with Katrina cleanup. They went to the cities of Rushford and Winona to help following the spring flooding of 2007. The group spent a week in Iowa City helping to rebuild 2 churches and assisting a woman with her house.  Most recently, the disaster relief team worked in Jamestown, North Dakota helping to clean up parks and a basement that had been flooded.   Watch for another workweek to be scheduled.  This is heart changing work-please join us!  Call Karen Coddington at 763-425-4243 for more information.

Quilters

Every Thursday morning at 9:00, a group of women meet to work on quilts. The finished quilts are given to Lutheran World Relief for distribution throughout the world. The quilters make approximately 200 quilts a year!

Faith & Society

A group of dedicated folks who are passionate about eliminating hunger and injustices throughout the world. This is not just a hope, it is a necessity. This group writes letters to Congress, actively encouraging our government to take bold steps in helping the less fortunate throughout the world. They manage and promote Ten Thousand Villages and Fair Trade Coffee, benefitting local farmers and artisians.

Christians Reaching Out in Social Service.

Advent is active in the CROSS program. CROSS is an inter-faith outreach ministry that

provides both food and clothing to those in need.

Loaves and Fishes

Advent has made a commitment to provide a hot meal to the homeless on the third Monday of even numbered months. This evening is divided up into shifts of food preparatin, food service, and cleanup.

Prayer Chain

Advent is blessed with many prayerful people available for both day and evening prayer chains. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer, please contact the church office or leave the prayer request on the home page of this site.
